Slow Horses is back!
The Apple TV+ original Slow Horses returns for Season 2 on December 2nd — and we’re on the case all month long!
If you missed Season 1 in the midst of the 5,000 other series that premiered this year, here’s a few reasons you should be watching:

YEAR IN REVIEW
It’s officially our favorite season (the season of year-end TV lists, of course), and we thought it only fitting to close out 2022 by showing some love to the shows that kept us glued to our screens. Read on to see what shows made Team ATX TV’s Top 10s!

While creating my list, I thought about the TV that came out this year with 2-3 things in mind: 1) Did I enjoy watching it/was it entertaining? 2) Did I want to talk about it afterwards & share it? and 3) Did it do something different, or mean something to the medium/industry?

Since I watch shows rather slowly, and tend to spread them out over weeks (and sometimes months), my main criteria for this list was what shows was I truly excited to sit down and watch over and over again, what did I prioritize making sure I was caught up because I wanted to be part of the conversation, and then afterwards what made me feel wrapped in a nice bow of emotional satisfaction. Even if there was a cliff hanger, and for some of these especially because there was a cliff hanger.

JENNIFER MORGAN, DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMING
There were many, many iterations of this (very subjective) list, many shows that I loved in 2022 beyond the ones listed here, and still more shows on my to-watch list that I wasn’t able to get to in time. But ultimately, these ten shows are the ones that I most enjoyed spending time with; the ones that had me itching to come back to them week after week, and stayed with me long after the episode (or season) had ended.

LAURA KINCAID, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
First thing to consider when I’m creating my list is have I actually watched it (I tend to watch things way later than the rest of the world, i.e. I haven’t watched The White Lotus or Andor yet – but I will!), and then it really comes down to a combo of how much delight I felt while watching the show and how quickly I wanted to watch it. When I just love something so much I wish I could somehow get it in my brain quicker than I can actually physically watch it, I know that’s a winner for me.

CHAKADRA WARD, ATX TV INTERN
The first question I ask myself when making my list is, “How fast did you run to the remote when a new episode was released?” When I really love a show, I run at warp speed to watch new episodes (i.e., I could not contain my excitement when I found out I was two episodes behind on The Resident, my excitement level was at an all-time high). Another thing I ask myself is, “Which shows had the best storylines in 2022 (in my humble opinion)?” All the shows in my top ten had some of the best storylines and kept me on the edge of my seat during each episode. If a show has me running to the remote at warp speed and keeps me on the edge of my seat, it’s a winner in my book.

“This recommendation is two fold and a bit of a cheat. First, watch Andor. It is ‘Star Wars for Grown Ups,’ and it is beautiful and cinematic in scope. Second, listen to The Watch’s trilogy of interviews with writer / showrunner / director Tony Gilroy… but in particular listen to this final interview (after you’ve finished Andor). Yes, that is a lot of things to ‘watch/listen’ to but I promise it is worth it. It is such a case study for how TV can be made and how IP can be used to make something new.”
